OPTIMISTS IN CALGARY
We need people like you to help us help kids!The first Optimist club in Calgary was chartered with Optimist International in 1938 with three other clubs following; with the Dinner Club being formed in 1994. Two other clubs in the surrounding areas of Airdrie and High River have been formed since then.
For over 70 years Optimists have sponsored deserving youths in the Calgary area with bursuries, grants and scholarships to help continue athletics, business, community and educational advancements.
The work and charitable issues of Essential Services, Safety on Wheels (bicycle, skateboard, inline skating), Fine Arts Development for Youth, Mentoring, and Juvenile Curling are among other worthy projects supported by Optimists.
Optimist clubs in Calgary and surrounding areas are part of a large international district that includes Clubs from other parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana, and Northern Wyoming.
OPTIMIST PARK
Optimist Park in south west Calgary was started over 30 years ago and has continued to grow providing a great sport facility to the city.
